Our People

Michael Saxon

Founder / Practice Lead

Michael is a registered clinical counsellor with over 15 years’ experience supporting vulnerable young people and families, particularly those involved with child protection, police, and youth justice systems. After a successful corporate career in senior leadership roles, he transitioned to youth mental health full-time in 2020 and became an accredited foster carer in 2021.

Michael holds a Master of Counselling from Monash University, specialising in childhood and adolescent trauma and attachment disruption. He has a particular interest in identity development, connection, and rites of passage for young people.

Known for his relaxed and engaging style, Michael creates a safe, supportive space where young people, especially boys, can explore challenges and build emotional insight. Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, he works collaboratively with clients to strengthen identity, resilience, and connection.

He has extensive experience working with culturally diverse communities, including First Nations Peoples, and with clients experiencing neurodevelopmental and psychosocial challenges. Michael is particularly skilled at engaging young people who may be hesitant or resistant to counselling and supporting families through complex dynamics.

Alongside his clinical work, Michael remains involved in community initiatives supporting vulnerable young people and promoting healthy expressions of masculinity.

He is also a passionate musician and artist, with a background in theatre, film, and live entertainment.
